Join us 80km north of Winnipeg in Fraserwood, at Nourished Roots, where we will build a wood-fired cob oven over the course of this two-day workshop.
Cob is a mixture of clay, sand, binder and water. It is a natural building medium, and variations of this mode of building can be found all over the globe.
Cob is a wonderful thermal mass. It comprises the oven body, and also acts as a mortar to build the plinth of the oven. The cob oven we will build during this workshop is called a black oven. This means that the firebox and the cooking chamber are the same.
